6N Silicon receives “Deloitte Technology Green 15” Award
September 20, 2007
6N Silicon Inc. is an inaugural winner of the prestigious Deloitte Technology Green 15 Award, a new award that salutes companies creating major breakthroughs in the field of green technology. The award comes as the 2007 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards Program celebrates its 10th anniversary as the pre-eminent technology awards program in Canada.
The Deloitte Technology Green 15 Awards recognize those Canadian companies that offer solutions to global environmental challenges by creating intellectual property (IP) and technology that reduce society’s environmental impact.
“The Deloitte Technology Green 15 awards were created because much of the popular focus on environmental solutions often rests on more visible manifestations like wind farms, solar farms and ethanol production facilities,” said John Ruffolo, National Leader, Technology, Media & Telecommunications Industry Group, Deloitte. “Honouring companies such as 6N Silicon is raising awareness of the innovative, powerful technologies invented here in Canada that work behind the scenes to enable the green applications we benefit from today.”
“We are proud to be named one of the inaugural winners of the Deloitte Technology Green 15 award,” said Scott Nichol, CEO of 6N Silicon. “We have made tremendous progress over the last 12 months and this award is recognition of how much we have accomplished. Our new process for purifying solar grade silicon is perfectly suited for the photovoltaic industry.”
“Companies such as 6N Silicon are creating technology solutions that have both a significant
environmental impact and demonstrate a compelling return on investment. In doing so, they are helping position Canada as a global leader in the development of commercially-viable green technology,” explained Ruffolo.
To qualify for a Deloitte Technology Green 15 Award, candidates must be headquartered in Canada and devote a significant portion of their operating revenues to creating proprietary technology and/or intellectual property.
