Steve co-founded Yaletown Venture Partners in 2001 and brings 19 years in technology, business development, and investing experience to the Yaletown team.  He leads Yaletown investments in Partnerpedia, GenoLogics, and Mixpo, which in 2009 was named to the OnMedia 100 list of the most promising private digital media companies in North America. Prior to co-founding Yaletown, he started and built TD’s technology financing group in British Columbia where he backed a portfolio of emerging technology companies during the 1990s – a formative decade in the region’s technology industry.  Steve has also served as an executive in the Technology, Information & Entertainment group of PricewaterhouseCoopers and began his career as a software engineer developing solutions for the energy industry at Accenture. Active in industry and community, Steve is on the boards of the Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association, DigiBC, Pacific Parklands Foundation, and is on the editorial boards of Private Capital magazine and Business in Vancouver newspaper.  He serves on the provincial riding executive for BC's Minister of Finance and is a past director of the BC Technology Industries Association and Vancouver Enterprise Forum. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia and British Columbia Institute of Technology magna cum laude.

Hans co-founded Yaletown Venture Partners in 2001 and brings 15 years of legal counsel, corporate governance, turn-around, and investing experience to the Yaletown team. As Yaletown’s General Counsel he directs our firm’s operations, legal affairs, investment transactions and administration.  Hans leads Yaletown investments in Redlen Technologies and Cogent Health Solutions. Prior to co-founding Yaletown, Hans was Vice President of Investments and Corporate Counsel for Brigill Investments, a private Vancouver-based venture capital firm. Earlier in his career he practiced law in the commercial litigation group of Borden Ladner Gervais and held a prestigious judicial clerkship at British Columbia’s highest court, the BC Court of Appeal.  Hans has B.A. and LLB degrees from the University of British Columbia and is called to the Bar of British Columbia.

Mike brings over 25 years of entrepreneurial and senior operating experience in the software industry to the Yaletown team. Mike led Yaletown's investments in Indicee, Zeugma Systems, Thetus, and Galeforce and he is currently active on the boards of Indicee and Zeugma. Mike has built product development and management teams in Canada and the US, devised and executed business plans, established strategic partnerships, raised venture capital from US and Canadian investors, and participated in the sale of two companies he founded. Prior to co-founding Yaletown, Mike was CEO of Simba Technologies (acquired by Pivotal).  Prior to that he co-founded Paradigm Development, a Vancouver-based contract software development firm whose client roster included Microsoft, Adobe and Symantec. Mike is active in the technology CEO mentoring organization “AceTech", is Scientific Advisory Board chair of Neil Squire Society, and is a director of the Vancouver Aquarium. Mike has a B.Sc. degree from the University of British Columbia.

Kirk brings over 25 years of technical, operational, and investment experience in energy technologies to the Yaletown team. Kirk leads Yaletown investments in CoolEdge Lighting, EnerG2, Microstaq, NxtGen Emission Controls, and 6N Silicon. Kirk joined Yaletown in 2002 after 13 years with fuel cell company, Ballard Power, where he directed numerous activities including research & development, operations, corporate administration, and special projects.  Most recently, as Director of Corporate Development he analyzed target companies for strategic transactions, negotiated intellectual property licenses, formed joint development agreements and conducted post-merger integrations. While at Ballard, Kirk was also a member of the investment committee of Chrysalix Energy LP, a clean-energy venture capital fund.  He previously managed engineering teams and major projects at MacDonald Dettwiler here in Vancouver, and several disk drive companies in Silicon Valley and Canada.  Kirk attended San Jose State University and holds 10 patents related to his work in clean energy technology.
